Are all 1970 Radios the same regardless of body type? Road Runner same as Cuda or Challenger?

Found a Cuda AM/FM but its way different than B-body. How much do the 70 B Body AM / FM's go for?

X2......They usually start at $500 and go up depending on condition/completeness/working condition

I agree with the $500 starting price. These are hard to find however at that price. Seems like most I have seen over the last 3-4 years have been in the $750-$1100 range!

In 1991 at Carlisle I happened to arrive about 6am, as one vendor was unloading several boxes of mopar radios. He had 3 70B body am/fm's and I bought all of them for $120. I kept 2 for restorations and sold one on ebay for $600 a couple years ago.

It is a one year only part as mentioned. I've seen B body cars with A body am/fm's which will fit somewhat but have a different faceplate/dial arrangement.

As far as 1970 B body AM FMs, I have sold a dozen or so (fully serviced/restored) in the past in the $ 750 - $ 850 range.
I don't even bother buying these anymore to resell because the buy in price is so high now.
Now, you seldom see one priced below $ 1,000 .
You will probably pay $ 500 or more for a non-working unit .
I consider the 70 B AM FM to be the "King' of all Mopar radios , as far as supply/demand .I probably service ten times as many 1970 E body AM FMs as I do the B body , and I get probably ten times as many 68-9 B body AM FMs in this shop than the 70 B body.

Refer to the picture a few posts above.

The first thing I look for are the screws and pins that hold and locate the radio in the dash.

The A-body version is held in by nuts over the volume/tuning shafts.

The 1970 B body AM FM (# 2884753)is unique . No other radio looks like it.

The lense(which is blacked out across the top) push buttons (which have squares facing up ) mounting bolt hole locations on front of housing (knob shafts not threaded) are all unique features to the 70 B.

By the way, the radio pictured above does not have the correct push buttons. It looks like someone swapped the tuner mechanism, buttons and all , with an A body unit.

Here is a pic of one of my radios . I don't have a picture showing the top of the buttons . The 1970 B is the only Mopar A B E C body radio to have black buttons with squares on top (some C bodys had chrome ones)

Greg - Is there a chance some of these radios were made with buttons installed from the factory in the other orientation as shown above? I personally owned a 70 B body am/fm which I sold that had the buttons reversed. I also know of another one that that is this way. Including the one above that is (3) 70 am/fm radios that I have seen this way.

By the way, there was no swap of any "tuner mechanism, buttons, and all". This is a mint 70B body am/fm out of a survivor 70 Sport Satellite. The buttons are original to the radio.

The incorrect buttons are in fact A body pieces, as you can tell from the shape . The B is more square and slightly textured at the very tip.
A body is more smooth, rounded edges . IF , and it's a very big IF , the above radio came from the assembly plant with those buttons, it would be because they ran out of the correct ones, and it would be the only one I have ever seen (and I have handled at least 175-200 1970 B body radios in this shop)
By the way, Their were 2 diffrent vendors for the 1970 B body radios
(Bendix and Phillips) 3 diffrent buttons for the 70 B , and all 3 buttons have the squares facing up .
I have seen a couple cases where some dork took his buttons off and tried to turn them over , but that's another story.

No problem .

2884128 is 1969 Dodge Polara and Monaco AM

2884759 is 1970-71 E body AM (chrome buttons)as well as 1972-74 (black buttons)
