cant remember where i took this off from? in know it goes on the manifold somewhere and i'm assuming has something to do with the carb...

be easy on me, i'm a noob remember!

Looks like a carb idle solenoid....not sure what application.

ok, does it mount on drivers side or passenger?

this is from a 340 intake manifold with a 4bbl holley that i'm putting on my 318.

Drivers front.It raises the idle.There should be a lead to connect it to.My Imperials all had one.They raised Idle when the air kicked on.Rocky

...My info was from a 70 shop manual, I didn't see what yr you were dealing with. It may be possible that a solenoid may have been used later with A/C, ...that I do not know.

oh, ok. this is off a 340 intake with what i'm assuming is the stock carb, that has "3/27/72" stamped on it. i dont have AC in my Road Runner.

That solenoid does not look like any of the type that typically would be found on AVS carbs used on 70 340's (68 and 69 340's did not use idle solenoids). No 4Bbl 340 ever used a Holley carb (six packs did). For 4Bbl applications it was AVS (68-70) or Thermoquad (71-73). The slotted screws and odd shaped bracket are a dead giveaway to somebody having rigged that solenoid to the Holley for their needs.

If you aren't required it for your state emissions, and don't need it for resto accuracy, I'd leave it off
