I am looking to do an electronic ignition conversion to my slant 6 Barracuda. I have seen kits for V8 engines but seems that nothing is listed for a Slant 6. Can i use the same kit?

Has anyone used something different. I need to replace the distributor when i do the conversion -- there is too much play in it from wear over the years.

I am looking for something simple -- any suggestions would be appreciated (but I am not able to swap out the /6 for a V8 any time soon -- no funds, know how, and no V8 to put in yet !!

& take both sides of the dist plug in connector and grab the ECU pentastar connector w several inches of pigtail then go to your parts house & get a new $15 4 pin ECU (standard motor products is a excellent brand or whatever they have avail) and w some wiring and the diagrams in the archives you'll have all you need. I would highly suggest opening the dist & clean it & toss the thick spring w the long loop and add one out of the MP light spring kit or another stiffer one if you have one avail. IDEAL would be to find the initial timing amt that your engine likes RIGHT NOW (use the vac gauge method) then do the swap & shorten the slots to give 32 total (vac adv disconnected) but you need the ideal initial amt first to do the math. 32 minus initial=slot length needed. EDIT: forgot to mention, you can keep your orig coil/ballast. slot length chart is in the archives also. It's not dead on but close enough to get you started & #1 is to get the initial correct

Ignitions by itself has nothing to do with cilinders number really, is just performance added on EACH spark, no matter if 4, 6, 8, 10... sparks per cicle.

Of course some boxes have a higher or lower limiter threshold than others, the you match with your engine the one you want
