NITRO JAM AND IHRA COMING TO TUCSON



The Tucson region has always had a rich tradition of great motorsport events. It is a community that has always demanded the best. And now Merles Southwestern International Raceway proudly announces that the best is coming March 25 and 26 as the 2011 Arizona Nitro Jam invades Tucson.

The 2011 North American Nitro Jam Tour will feature Top Fuel Dragsters, Prostalgia Nitro Funny Cars, Nitro Harleys, Fuel Altereds, and jet cars. And for the first time ever fans will witness the Cool Bus Wheelstander along with a Jet Semi as it takes on the legendary Grave Digger Monster Truck.

After weeks of meetings and voting from local racers, Southwestern International Raceway has confirmed that the facility will be sanctioned by the International Hot Rod Association. According to new owner, LJ Motorsports and CEO Bernie Longjohn the IHRA affiliation will insure additional racer friendly programs including the Summit Super Series.

GOOD ferr IHRA ..... NHRA needs someone to them from time-to-time !

Wonder if Speedworld would ever consider. Doesn't seem like they would have anything to lose.

Always a very racer friendly track manager..

We will definitely have to race there more often..

Don't know yet when that will be... Car is in "Paint Jail".. Who knows when she'll get bail. .

Funny how they scheduled the race the same weekend as the NHRA Division 7 race @ Vegas...

When Nitro Jam comes to town make a weekend out of it and go racing!! It is more fun than a barrel of monkeys!! really.
They treat sportsman racers just like pros. Payouts are great, and where else can a bracket racer run at a National event??

Did you go out yesterday? How'd you here about it? I was wondering about it. Last weekend they thought the voting would be a land slide. Looks like it will have a full schedule. I'll be in touch. matt

The track we raced at in Sodak flipped from one to the other a few times, but has stuck with IHRA for probably over 10 years now at least. Never really effected us, but the management indicated that IHRA was much more reasonable to work with and less costly. We didn't ever "team race" so those events really meant nothing to us. Hope all goes well in Tucson.

Chris, You have that backwards. The NHRA put the rescheduled (SIR divisional) on the same date as SIR's NITRO JAM. Coincidence? I don't think so!
