I have a 1970 Challenger and I am redoing some of the front end and steering. I have redone the power steering and some other things but the car feels loose. I have heard there is a replacement for the rag joint on the column. I know Flaming River makes one($$$$$$$$), but i hear there is an over the counter part form the late 70's or 80's that does the same job for much less money. Is anyone familiar with this and could you explain it to me or send a link?

Note this is a driver not a race car.

Speedway motors $39.00. Cut off the end of the shaft and welded on. I had the whole column out and disassembled at the time so was pretty easy.

Here is anouther one I did 64 Savoy. Its a wilwood joint IIRC. Was double the money over the Speedway motors one.

Thats just about what I was looking for.
One question, I went to speedway and that part does not seem to pop up under Mopar Muscle car. Is it a universal or for something else?

I did the same and came up with nothing so went with one of the universal ones.

Does this modification make a substantial difference in the feel of the steering?

I have completely rebuilt the suspension in my roadrunner and upgraded to a firm feel box...but it still feels sloppy to me.

Don't have the cash to go all out on a alterkation unit...but would lover something small and cheap that would make a noticeable difference. thanks!

If your stock joint is worn out, it would. A rebuild might get you where you want.

I have thought about the rebuild, but a buddy just did that and still has issues.

Also is there an option or product that does not need welding? If not I can get it done just wanted to see.
