i have set of trw l2295's that were in a motor i bought,upon intial run in a crack appeared in a cylinder.i need piston wall clearance and where on those pistons to measure them so i can have a block bored.thanks,sam.

maybe it's just because it's early morning here & i'm not seeing/thinking straight, but what are you asking? i understand you have a cracked cylinder but after that i'm lost.

Sam,

That piston will be -.005 clearance in a standard application.

You measure at the centerline of the pin for proper piston diamter.

Measure across the skirt at the bottom. Pistons skirts are typically tapered and elliptical.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

That is incorrect ( for these pistons). TRW skirt design is different than many " modern" skirts. Every manufacter specs a different measurement location. TRW happnes to be from the centerline of the pin, down, just below the pin hole. Not the skirt.

If they are a coated TRW, then you go with a given bore dimension,provided by them, not an actual measurement.

c.w. thanks they are not coated,rebel,when you wake up its says so i can get a block bored[as in another one thats not cracked] .
