Im using promax stuff and love it..easy to tune and once its dialed in ya dont have to mess with it..great stuff

Thanks for the input everyone - looks like I'm going to go with ProMax as part of a rebuild of the carbs.

Looking at the specs below, where do you suggest I jet the carbs at least to get started?

413 std bore and stroke

10:1 compression

Cam Lift (int/exh) .320/.320
Valve Lift (int/exh) .480/.480
SAE Duration (int/exh) 302/302
SAE Timing: BTC = 43; ABC = 79;BBC = 79; ATC = 43
Lobe Center (int/exh) 108/108
Lash Hot (int/exh) HYD/HYD
.050 Duration (int/exh) 236/236
.050 Timing BTC = 10; ABC = 46; BBC = 46; ATC = 10

TTi 1 7/8 primaries

Auto TQ stall speed 3,200 rpm.

Marty at QF may have some good inout as well, the promax plates are awsome and I think the QF pro max internal parts are about the same.

Good info above from Tom But it seems more for oem or mild carbs as stated, but some of use have diff views of what we drive on the street.

End carbs can open by cracking the throttle on some setups, just have it chipped. And some run a locked out dist as well.

Tomorrow I will fire up the new indy mod man six pack intake, wondering how things will act vs oem.

As far as jetting, at sea level 64 center, 84 outters, way less here at 8400 ft.

Your combo sounds pretty mild and you dont mention altitude, Id try stock jetting a diff PV as mentioned and springs more on the side to open later then sooner, then start working down do get them to open at the right time.

Good luck, you wont regret it

I've saved your attachment and when the time comes to get my SixPack up and running I'll certainly put it to use!

My Six Pack is new and will be on a stock rebuilt 440..........if only I hadn't sold the Charger it was slated for

It'll find its way in my wife's Challenger one day more than likely

Mobarge i'm sure promax will have it jetted for you.They will ask you your spec's on the car.Ben will take good care of you.

No Air Grabber on the car yet. Was going to do that this year.

The altitude where the car is driven will vary widely (Southern California), but will mostly be between 800 and 1,500 feet.

I have the Promax baseplates on both my cars, and the metering block on the Bee.

Really make tuning easy. The Bee, with the metering block, literally ran great right out of the box after I worked with Promax as they figured what was right for my combo.

A big thumbs up!!

I'd probably jump the jets up 2 and swap the PV. I doubt you'll need the ProMax pltaes for that. I was running more cam, more compression I was fine w/ the factory plates. But I was using a brand new kit.

I think the opening statement was missed...

Many six pak and 4bbl cars run like pigs because the basics as outlined in the document were not followed.

Please do not confuse the masses. If you want to provide me with tuning info for race cars I will be more than happy to write it up. The guide is not intended for race cars that get driven on the street. Real Race cars are a whole different application.

Cracking the throttle on any street setup to see if the end carbs open is not a legitimate test.

Running a locked out distributor is for race cars and does not belong on a street car.

Six paks do provide fuel economy. I get 16 mpg with my mild 416 six pak that puts 400hp at the rear wheels. Weighs 3450 with driver, 12.20-12.80@114 mph thru the traps...do the math

What you've posted will help a lot of people, but you should be equally cautious in your delivery suggesting what you've posted will be right for the masses. In the end, you need to tune to what your application wants, and all performance tuning can only be done at the track. Everyone should keep an open mind and let the data tell you what you motor wants.

Hello Tom Quad -- Thanks very much for your Jan 2011 update on the six-pack setups. I'll let you know when I succeed... hopefully by this Spring of 2011. I met Ben/Promax at recent Chicago swap meet; nice guy; Although my engine is very mild (headers, stock cam), I may go ahead an buy his setup for the fine-tuning capabilities. My plans for 2011 are hi-speed road course "touring/lapping", maybe 1-2 Solo II/autocross, some local car shows; no serious racing/competition yet until $funds become better (daughter going into college and 2 sons not far behind). Keep in touch! MO-POWER to ya!
