I was surfing the web shopping for parts for my next build when I ran across this. I've never built anything over 500hp so I'll keep my comments to myself.

I hae seen several 426 and 440 wedge blocks crack and break the main webs at a lot less power than 900 HP I have a 527 C.I. wedge motor(stock 440 block) that makes 800+ HP at 6500 RPM normally apsereated, two 1050 Holley domintor carbs I bought and had ductile iron main caps and ARP main studs installed because I was worried about breaking the main webs I started buying parts for that motor back in 1996 or so, long bfore good blocks where availble Shame on me I'll probally remove the rotating assembly and install a pump gas freindly smaller stroker asembly in that block to make it safe I have sense bought a World block and I will put those 800 +HP parts in it If you want a motor that will make 800+ HP and live a long, productive life, buy a good block to start with

WOW did you read the RJ ad...20 invested???

Any way...way back i had my 440-1 on a stock block, Went a best of 9.09 at 147 at 3600lbs,,.....what hp is that??? That motor had stock main caps with studs, thats it...Upon dissasembly after over 200 passes it had some MASSIVE cap walk, but that was about it...GRP alum rods. Still have the block, thinking about building another engine with it for my sons duster

It was a 446 (+.030)
Stock crank 3.75
GRP rods
JE piston (custom)
Out of the Box 440-1 and intake
9375 dominator
Solid Roller cam

Pretty basic parts bolted together, went 10.20 on motor and 9.20-teens pretty consisten on a plate 93n 82f Ran a 9.09 once at Cecil Co

I used to cringe every time i used nitrous on that motor, pretty soon i just got used to it...LOL
