how much do you drive it and how far? how often do you really race? that cam is perfect for street car i like a tight 10 inch for street car. if you really want to run a # and dont care about slipage/trans heat/gas mileage ect.. go 4k stall
MOPAR OR NO CAR

Try it, Should be close to "ideal" for a street/strip deal.

Its hard to say what that conv will stall at behind that 440 but I would guess in the 4500 range... which is still fine for the street

If it's an actual "race" converter, it'll likely slip so badly below the lock-up point that it'll drive like crap on the street. Try it and see if you can live with it.
IIRC, 383man runs a Dynamic 9.5", as do I. I have no idea if they're configured the same, though.

are the dynamic 9.5s all custom or is it a off the shelf converter?
I believe they always build to order...I run a dynamic 9.5 that I boughth used. It's actually too tight for my combo (built for a more powerful car).

what we have used 5200 stall race converters on the street and they didn't drive like crap on the street. a converter doesn't stall untill power is applied.

its a tci unit.. i called with all the numbers.. alls they could tell me is that it is a custom 9 inch race converter "probably too loose for the street". the man i bought it from is a dynamic customer, this was a "backup" converter he tried and he thought it was about 3800-4000. it was a racecar so we dont know about the drivability. im going to throw it in and see what happens!
I have a 8" thats going in my Rampage and I called T/A and talked to Paul, gave him the numbers on mine and he said its a 3800 series but after telling him my engine and vehicle specs he figured about 5000-5200 so I'll put it in and give it a try... the most I might have to do is pull it and send it out to get adjusted... one thing I liked was he said that conv is a very efficient conv with a low slippage rate

I think it is worth trying. Let us know two things: 1) How it drives pulling away from the stop light (normal traffic/slow). 2) What the WOT stall turns out to be.
Different people will tolerate different feel during normal traffic driving. If it stalls around 3800 rpm in your combo, I think it will be fine.

not a big tci (TOTAL CRAP INSIDE)fan at all but heay if it works ok, I'll take a hit there, but i run turbo action/ dynamic prefer dynamic, much better tech help but a good 9-9.5 convert should work great on a street/strip car with no bad effect, make sure tho you run a good trans cooler/lines

I'm sure you have enough experience to know that a converter can be configured a bazillion different ways and that has a direct impact on the way it responds to things like part-throttle application below the actual stall speed. Some units still provide a reasonable amount of fluid coupling under those conditions, while others are just "slip sliding away" (to borrow a line from an old Paul Simon song).

I won't claim mine drives like a stock converter under the stall speed, but it's a lot less "slushy" than the "brand name" 10", 3800-stall, unit it replaced. It also picked up about .2 and 2 MPH due to reduced slippage.
