im going to throw it in and see what happens!
I think it is worth trying. Let us know two things: 1) How it drives pulling away from the stop light (normal traffic/slow). 2) What the WOT stall turns out to be.
Different people will tolerate different feel during normal traffic driving. If it stalls around 3800 rpm in your combo, I think it will be fine.

not a big tci (TOTAL CRAP INSIDE)fan at all but heay if it works ok, I'll take a hit there, but i run turbo action/ dynamic prefer dynamic, much better tech help but a good 9-9.5 convert should work great on a street/strip car with no bad effect, make sure tho you run a good trans cooler/lines

If it's an actual "race" converter, it'll likely slip so badly below the lock-up point that it'll drive like crap on the street. Try it and see if you can live with it.
IIRC, 383man runs a Dynamic 9.5", as do I. I have no idea if they're configured the same, though.
what we have used 5200 stall race converters on the street and they didn't drive like crap on the street. a converter doesn't stall untill power is applied.
I'm sure you have enough experience to know that a converter can be configured a bazillion different ways and that has a direct impact on the way it responds to things like part-throttle application below the actual stall speed. Some units still provide a reasonable amount of fluid coupling under those conditions, while others are just "slip sliding away" (to borrow a line from an old Paul Simon song).

... I run a 9.5" Dynamic, behind my modified 440, that flashes to 4500rpm,and drives like a stock converter on the street!
I won't claim mine drives like a stock converter under the stall speed, but it's a lot less "slushy" than the "brand name" 10", 3800-stall, unit it replaced. It also picked up about .2 and 2 MPH due to reduced slippage.
