I'm going to be installing a Moroso vac pump in the future and I want a tank that doesn't puke like a 16 year old kid at a keg party. So the consensus has been to stay away from the Moroso but is there a brand out there that is clearly better than the others?

Star products. http://www.starvacuumpumps.com/catalog/ The other key to keeping the tank clean is to have the motor sealed up tight. We run the rear main seal backwards. Very very little oil ends up in the tank.

I did some research before purchasing mine. Star and Moroso like to run dry. G.Z. needs to have some oil run through it which I feel is going to happen anyway. I decided to pull from the fuel pump block off. I'm running a Jessel so there is no timing chain. It appears to be a "dead" area as far as winndage. Will it work well? Time will tell.

90% of the battle is where you pull the vac from
and the baffling

I guess being that it's my post I can hijack it and change direction right? LOL. So where is the prefered fitting location for most small blocks? I know that the front of the valve cover is a recommended spot or the above a rocker stand- but I was thinking of using the factory breather location instead...
Does anybody have a picture of how they baffled their valve covers that worked out good? I've got hundreds of ideas of what will work but I only want to do this once.
Thanks guys

Well I pull from right above the wide rocker stand
near the front... I made a interlocking U set up that
was sealed to the valve cover(one U fit inside the
other so the open of the U over lapped)

I use this tank from moroso. I run my hose into the lower one and cap off the upper one. No problems here.

So if it overfilled what would happen- oil would come out the upper port if it wasn't capped off?

No matter what tank you use if it becomes overfilled it will come out. I drive may car on the street so the extra volume works great. The bonus of this tank is the spraying oil has room to seperate and fall to the bottom instead of blowing out the breather.

Most any of those tanks you need to direct the air
flow down in the tank so it doesnt spray the mist
and get caught up in the exiting air

That's essentially what I'm after right there. Most of my driving is on the street and while I expect to have to empty it on regular basis there is a chance I may forget sometime. Are all these tanks open inside or is there any that have a down spout/tube attached to the fitting to direct the mist down?

Raff- this baffle your talking about...How big is it? are you talking a few inches overlapping the fitting or the length of the cover? the ends of the "u"'s- are they closed or open?

I drew up a quick sketch ... I made it with a backing
plate that way if you have a nut for the inside of
the valve cover for the breather fitting you can
use the nut to hold it in place(I didnt have a nut
because I tapped the valve cover).... the inlet side
(side where the printing is) is towards the exhaust
on mine because of push rod oiling

How about installing a drain hose ffrom the catch tank back into the motor, a gravity feed design with a real light one way check valve, say three or four pounds of vacume like a PVC valve or something like that

I wouldn't. Then you will have vane waste and moisture going back in.
