Is the crank worth keeping, how about any a/c pulleys....All my cars are BB so I have no use for it and I am getting rid of stuff that beens laying around,it's still together and I was gonna keep the steering pump and crank pulley. It's from a 71 satellite....So should I bother with the crank or junk it...

I used a 318 steel crank in a 340. If you save it, save the harmonic balancer since someome upgrading froma cast crank will need a steel crank balancer

its a good crank, but seems like most are opting for stroker cranks driving the price of oem steel cranks down.

problem is with most parts that size is you'll wind up shipping it and if that is a hastle for you, then just junk it. not worth the time IMO for the $50 you'll get for it.

they steel crank came in all 273's, apparently some 318's and pre-73 340's. so its not like they are super rare.

Thats what I was thinking as far people using after market cranks....Also there are so many since they are easily found. I'll junk the whole thing. The funny thing will be as soon as I scrap it someone will need it.....

Put it on Craigslist, if it doesn't sell, you can junk it then.

Costs you nothing but a little extra time. There's always someone looking for these, just a matter of timing.

Rather than focus on the crank, just sell the whole engine with the crank in it. (for a few more dollars) Less hassle for you and it could help someone else out.

I had a 68 vintage 318 that was given to me.
After I got tired of it setting on the garage floor I sent out an email to all the Mopar guys I knew stating "Free 318".

One of the guys came picked it up and gave me $10 for it.

I told him that he was the only guy that would pay for something that was offered free. He's a strange character.

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

The early 273's had a smaller hole for the torque converter. If it won't take the later torque converter, it's worthless. In 93 I had a machine shop make the hole big enough for a late torque converter. I was a pain and expensive.

I would keep the crank with the balancer and the oil pan. Ya just never know. If you were closer I would take that crank off your hands.

Sounds like I'll pull the crank-out and take it to Carlisle with the balancer. If it doesn't sell there THEN it can become a 'yota....

I was looking for an inexpensive 9:1 318 piston a few weeks ago. Besides what KB has to offer there's not much on the low budget end. And the KB's aren't that cheap. Hence, the stroker crank popularity. Or what I call, the "might as well syndrome".

I still wouldn't trash a good forged crank (cast, yes). Someone will want it.

I think that's a cast crank, only 340s had steel after 67 look for the parting line on the throws sharp edge cast flattened out steel

Didn't early (pre73) 318's have floating piston pins as well?

And you might check the rods. Seems the factory musta had some leftover 496 (340) rods. I have found them in a few untouched (date coded bearings, factory head gaskets) 70 thru 72 318s. Also, the 71 318s often used a Rochester 2GV carb. This was a one year only part. Might be somebody hunting that. And the intake if it's a single plane. The dirt track guys who are not allowed to run 4 barrels like them. Make me a deal on the whole thing.

Buy a Hybrid!! I need your gas!!! Currently spending $1,000 a month to feed the Hemis!! Looking for that elusive CHEAP 71-72 Plymouth B-body 2 door OR 71-72 Coronet 4 door!!!

Funny the first thing when I pulled it that was the first thing sold off it many years ago was the intake and carb, then the exhaust manifolds and motor mounts. It's been sitting under an Overhang of a barn covered for 12 years or so. I don't know if it will even spin over it ran when removed....Looks like your too far away to do a deal...
