I'm going to pull the engine in my Duster to freshen it and I was wondering. Do you guys ever check your cam for wear? I would assume the lobes will wear with age but I have been running this Isky solid cam with the same lifters for 12 years now! This is the second engine its been in. It was in the dart when I broke a rod and I put it in the Duster when I built a 360 stroker in 2008. I guess I'm living on borrowed time I avg over 150 runs a year. What are your thoughts?

If they are broken in properly and you do regular maintenance, no reason why they won't out last most other moving parts in an engine. Like bearings, rings, valve springs, etc., thay are not considered a consumable. That being said, if you are running over 700# of open spring pressure, ----------- Checking for cam wear is easy. A couple of V blocks and a dial indicator will do it - or even a micrometer will get you there.

it also matters on how ratical your engine is,sheesh some guys change springs after 10 passes, some even do it more often.when u start loosing lash more often,i would start to look at the lifter..if ur mph and all is good, dont worry about
