Wow, that is an awesome pic Stewart. The beginning of the golden years of drag racing funny car history.........
Looks to be the exact car that Supercar Collectables has out in their 1:18 scale awb group. That was one of the three cars I bought when they first came out.

Stewart, would you mind terribly if I copy that photograph and send it to a friend? He runs a clone of Nicholson's car in NSS.

Man, look at the door/quarter gap at the side windows and just below at the beltline...

This was early on as Dyno's car wasn't "cut up" yet. Here is a shot of it later on. Thanks for posting the shot!!

My slide has June 65 on the back, also there are no injector stacks on either car
I am 99.99% sure that is Tampa Dragway - I have other pictures of the track, that show the sign in the background

When I was there in 65, if I remember right, they had a light that looked like a street light to start the cars hung from two poles in front of the starting line at the finish. Also had flag men on each side to determine the winner by raising the flag on that side.

I recall, Robert Nance, being Mr.Plymouth and his cars being Blue

As for the Tampa Dragway location - I believe it would have been under the rooms2go warehouse, closer to I 4

I recall my parents stopping by a track near Tampa when I was a kid. I sort of remember it being parallel to the highway. Was there an entrance off Highway 92? I seem to remember it being off the right side of the highway as we drive past in the right lane. I can't remember much else besides a dirt road and a mid-50s dark green Olds (of all things to remember). This would have been the early 60s.

Stewart is like the Bob Hope of Drag Racing - Thanks, for the memories....

I "borrowed" this aerial from 1968 - the area of more contrast, is Tampa Dragway.

Based on that photo, we must have come in off I-4 and came in on the east side by the exit. I was probably only five years old or something at the time. My parents hardly ever took me to the drags. My dad liked oval track racing better and didn't see the point of just going straight.

Guys...it seems to me that Buckeye Vernon (Vernon & Rowley) from Maryland wound up with one of the Tigers and won the NASCAR Winternationals with in it 1966. Then it was destroyed in an accident. Am I right, or is my memory playing tricks on me?

I think they also bought the stretch nosed 66 Cuda the next year.
