I have been working with a guy/company that is try to guage the hobby to see what the demand would be for correct reproduction Mopar E/B body 7290 driveshafts. They would have the correct "bell down" style tube, correct small end Detroit cast yoke and close, but not 100% correct larger end yoke. The large end yoke would not have the Detroit cast into it.Correct reproduction balancing weights and the blue seamed natural metal tubing and of course with real weld marks on each end as the shaft would be made up for each application. If the customer wanted the 100% correct larger end yoke, you could supply your own if available. What would the Mopar community pay for such a part? Trying to help him desided if he should move forward with the project. Thanks for any input.

Someone else was looking into this also. There was a good thread a while back on resto driveshafts. But there's also tons of repro manuf's saying "we working on it, it's next on the list". Just a way to hold a spot to keep others from doing that part.

There's a guy doing concours driveshaft for Mustangs right now: http://www.deadnutson.citymax.com/page/page/2526992.htm Might want to compare his pricing.

My

Would it be nice to have ? sure.
Would you sell some of them ? Sure.
Would it be profitable enough (aka sell enough of them ) to tool up and make them ? Doubt it.

There is a guy on E-Bag claiming to make, and I think be, the OEM manufacturer. Has a couple different versions on there- and will custom make to your specs- if mt memory serves me right.

The one on the mustang site above would be over $600 when you add in the shipping and maybe thats not too bad if you have a 200k Shelby. I dont think I would spend that much unless I had a 100% councours car that would rarley be driven. I think someone should reproduce just the tapered tube if you could reuse your original ends but for the most part, you just dont see the driveshaft when the car is on the ground.
