Just brought a car home and it came with A LOT of extra parts. One of them is what I believe to be a 413 block. The pad says V 41 on the top and 11 18 HP on the bottom. I looked hard for the 3 behind the 41 but it's not there. Must have missed the stamp. The casting number is 2205697-4. I imagine this is a run of the mill 413???

V is the year code for 1964, you have a '64 413 (they only used the first two digits 41) built on the 18th of November, 1963. HP identifies it as High Performance.

Well they still offered the dual quad 413 in the 300K.

I didn't know that. I don't know much about pre-'67 cars.

It seems like you can't give 413s away around here, don't know if this block is any different.

Nothing different/unique about the blocks. As mentioned V41 is a 64 413, HP = High Performance. My guess is that it was original to a 1964 300K. Do you have a picture of the pad? The 300K engine font was typically different from other 413 stampings of the era.

I'll get a picture of it and try and post it tomorrow. It's amazing what you can learn on this site!

My pad looks "normal". Here's a pic of the pad and casting number/date.

It could be a 300K block or possibly an oddball application like a police car engine.

I know this is an old thread but does anyone have an example of a '62 high compression pad?
