Since moving to Az and joining the ADRA ( Arizona Drag Race Association ), I wanted to make their first of 12 scheduled races this year - which was yeasterday ( 1-8-11 ). So we loaded up and rolled out of Payson ( it was 27 degrees when we left ) @ 7am. Saturday morning and got to Speedworld ( ADRA's home track in Surprise, Az ) at around 9:30am. By noon we had our 3 scheduled time runs under out belts and we were ready for elim's. I was shocked at some of the RT's this group was doing. If you were over .030, you were going home early! Can you say DIALED IN! They even offered a $50 prize for the lowest average RT for the three times runs. I went .014, .005, and red .093, so I obviously was out. There were 39 cars in Pro. Most in the 10's with a sprinkling in the 9's, 11's, 12's. The attached pic is of my car and my first round victim ( Camaro ). Since his dial-in was 9.43, I was discussing with him how well his car handled at the big end and that he would be at a bigger disadvangage than I if he were to hit me at 27mph ( he ran 9.42 on a 9.43 dial @ 139 and I ran 11.88 on a 11.85 @ 112 ). At any rate, I went 3 rounds before succumbing with a .130 RT ( I guess it was my nap time ). Met a lot of cool guys and had some fun.

LOTS of racing going-on UP HERE ...UP-NORTH Michigan ...IF you like snowmobiles.

There are two resturants in town that cater to those guys. Yesterday there were AT LEAST 200 of them there ..... some of those things are SCAREY fast ..and super expensive ..

They race 'em on a smaller lake(2 miles across - 8 miles of shoreline) ... it is a real sight-to-see.

Only racing at the Strip in the month of January is JR Dragster...

No drag races scheduled until the middle of February...

Would be nice to have a track that races during the Nice winter months..

That is how I used to get my speed fix till I moved south. Finished 3rd in points with my prostocker and only attended 3 races!

Crizila, car looks great. You/we are blessed to live in areas we can race year round, should we want to!

Thanks MegaDart. Ya, we are lucky. Coming from Il, this is new to me. The ADRA has 2 races in Jan, 2 in Feb, and 1 in March. After that ( in the middle of summer ) they are all night races because it is too hot. We live about 125 miles north of the track and @ 5,000 above sea level, so our temps are about 15 - 20 degrees colder than at the track. Strange leaving for the track yesterday and it's in the upper 20's and by afternoon at the track it was 61 degrees! I'm not complaining. Just strange getting used to.
