If one was looking for a good 400 block for a stroker application would one out of a 72 New Yorker be a worthy candidate? Thanks.

Any 400 block is a good candidate. The '72 blocks are potentially the best, but until you pass the sonic test, pressure check and magnuflux, nothing is any better than anything else.

Mopar quality control was really poor in the 70's. The blocks are all over the map in terms of wall thickness and casting quality.

I found a cordoba with a 400 last week in a scrap yard. I was thinking of pulling the motor and trans to just stick back in the corner for some later project. It can keep the /6, 318, 315 and 440 company. Randy

1957 Dodge truck, Snakeskin Green with a little stroker motor. 1964 Plymouth Savoy wagon ( my new project)

I used a 400 from a '78 Cordoba as a core for a 496. It worked out fine. It had the jumbo 100 amp alternator setup which I eventually wound up using as well. I am running AC with Ed heads. There just aren't many high amp alternator options with that setup.

Who knows if I would ever build the thing anyway, but the price is right so maybe I will have it take up space in the basement. Thanks for the input.

Any 400 is a good starting point for a stroker. The difference with the '72 block is the main webbing is thicker.
