I need to remove the heater box from my 73 Roadrunner. The motor that was in this car when I got it had a cracked block. although the radiator looked ok I think I better check the heater core before it ruins my new carpet. Does anybody have pictures of the heater box installed on the firewall so I can see the screw/nut locations? or a good description of their location ?

Won't be difficult to find, your looking for a stud with a nut on it. I believe there are four (or so) of them.

You can kinda see them in this pic.

But yeah, it's any stud on that side of the firewall with a nut on it. I think there are 4 of them but don't remember 100% off hand. Look for 3 clustered around the blower motor and one a little more inboard. Real easy to remove, I pulled mine out and plugged the holes in the firewall in favor of an aftermarket heat/ac system.

Don't they have a bolt inside under the dash? I never took one out but I did put one in when I did my 72 Challenger but for the life of me I can't remember much about it. The dash was out of my Challenger and it was way easy to put the heater box in.

if i remember right there are a couple of brackets under the dash that you will need to take off, as compare to todays cars, it's pretty easy!

Yeah there are a few bolts under the dash but like dean said, very easy.

I was planning on doing it today but I had to put a tranny temp gauge in my Challenger. I hope to get to it tomorrow. Tristan I thought you had you inner fender cut out? or is that another car in the pics? I just finished my bodywork yesterday I have a few things to do like take the heater box out, drill P-side mirror holes and remove side glass then I'm ready to epoxy the car and then the fun begins. I thought I would have the car painted by now the Parts I ordered are showing up so I got to get moving.

Theres a bolt/ hook that goes into the cowl duct from the inside of the car under the dash . It lifts the box and seals it to the duct on the under side of the metal cowl. You will see when you look under there

Yeah that was a "before" pic. Same car now has the sheet metal mods to the inner fender, and holes for the factory heater box are plugged.
