My son works for Steve Morris Engines. Yesterday he sent me a pic of a motor they just built for a customer. Mid 500" aluminum Indy block, fuel injected, F3r 139mm Procharger. On their engine dyno it put out over 2500hp.

with 572-13 head you make a solid 950hp,, which would still be fast in a 2350lb car...

i know guys around here that made 1000 or a lil more then put it in their 3300lb car and run 8.80's,,, look at westcott's stick car making a lil under 1000 running 8.20's in a 3200lb car,,, those guys with over 1000 prob really had a lil over 900

Exactly!!!!!!

would love to know what kind of dyno that was. not many model dyno's that can handle that much power.

No one makes a dyno that can reliably stand up to 3500hp, so they have taken parts and pieces of different brands and fabricated many other parts and pieces to make a dyno that will handle 3500hp+. S basically they have a custom one off. Steve's motor dynoed just under 3500hp.

Thought you should know. Steve Morris is in no way affiliated with SMRE. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

This is a video from Orlando earlier this winter. He had tire slippage all the way down the track, at 1000' mark he bounced off the wall at 190mph and still ran a 7.82.

762 lift cam with jesal 1.6 rocker
intake ????
piston ?????
rod ?????
crank?????
trans glide
ford 9" rear coil over 4 link

looking for at lease a 1000hp or more for the combo on this build...

It takes a good engine to make 1000+. By that I mean 410+ cfm heads, 15:1+ comp., .800+ cam lift with serious valve springs. Should also consider using titanium intake valves. I'd use GRP rods around 7" and a 4.5 stroke Callies Magnum crank. I'd use the 440-3x intake and someones custom carb (Cubic, Books, ProSystems).

You need to speak to Best Machine for CNC porting on the 572-13, then you'll have the potential in those heads
BTW we aren't anywhere near 1000 hp (yet )

Ok, I will play to..

I plan on making my 540 nitrous only, but will start out with a different cam and and run N/A first.

Block megablock, 4.50 bore
crank 4.25
alum. rods BME 7.15
Pistons CP flat top 14:1
Cam Intake lift with 1.8 ratio 0,792", Exh 0,774"
Intake dur 280° Exh. 289, LSA 112
Rockers T&D separate 1.8
Tit. intake valves 2.30 (+0,100 both int and ex)
Psi1248 tripple springs installed at 2.10"
B1 originals, fully ported by RAD racing
Single cast B1, ported
1050 AD, 9375 three circ.

I am hoping for at least 950 hp.
How much would a good 1250 carb help, like the new ultra hp ?
The cam is new and 10 years old, would it benefit with more ex dur. ?

Not sure if we will hit 1000 hp but that is the target and we should not be to far below

Aluminum world block 4.50 bore
crank 4.50
I beam rods 7.100
Pistons CP 15:1
Cam Intake lift with 0,806", Exh 0,798"
Intake dur 284° Exh. 292, LSA 112
B1 originals, fully ported
Single cast B1, ported
2000 cfm throttle body
BS3 EFI methanol
Peterson 5 stage dry sump

25.1E Duster should end up 2450
5 speed lenco
Ford 4.30 rear
32 tall tire

I think the I beam vs H beam boils down to personal preference as there are advantages and disadvantages to both designs. Make sure you have a quality oiling system, bearings, pins, and hardware on the rods as these are the often the frequent sources of rod failures and not necessarily the design itself. imho

Our customers that we actully built engines like this have run better than 8.80, but did have some car trouble like you . The MPH will show this better than ET, maybe you need a new engine builder? give us a call I know we can pick it up

If I ever put a steel rod in a high hp aplication, it would be Oliver parabolic, which is a I-beam.
I am a firm belivier in alum. rods though.
