I'm building a 408 stroker small block with a .557 cam. I already have a set of Edelbrock heads, has anybody ever upgraded to indybrocks?

I would say no not worth it but it also depends on rest of the motor and how much work is done to the eddies.

Minimal gains for maximal dollars.
Your end use would dictate your choice here , but with the cam you have picked out , you are firmly in ported eddy territory.

The Indybrocks I bought some years ago for my SB "backup motor" flow 306CFM @.600 (intake); I don't recall the other #s but all seems in order. I think I paid $3400 including the porting & usual Eddy hardware upgrades.

Really one of the best things Indy has done in a lot of ways if you think a couple few tenths is worth a grand or so--they use std BB rockers and allow much bigger better spring packages as the shafts are moved UP and away from the valve--it ain't just flow that is a benefit. I love them! They offer many advantages---yep you can port up an Eddy but the ability to really put a good spring package on there and about any std offset BB rocker is the deal!

For not much more money you can get a set of Indy -1's or -2's. Stick with the eddies, port them if you wish, but there isn't enough to gain by going from a standard edelbrock to an Indybrock.

Thats my opinion anyways and I own a set of Std. Eddies and a set of Indy -2's

I have gone 9.76 at 138 with them on a 416 at 2975lbs with no real tuning at around 800 ft DA I think I can get a little more out of them.

I went from ported eddies to indybrocks. The eddies were indys stage 2. I went from 11.30s@118 to 11.00@122and the car was 110lbs heavier since I addded a cage at the same time I switched the heads. Also I only got 2 runs in on the indybrocks where I have many runs on the standard eddies and were tuned in. Rest of my combo was. It was a huge difference I thought even in the seat of pants. Also this was all with crappy 1.65 60' times with the tight converter.
408 c.i.
10.7 compression
comp xr286 roller.
3k stall
4.10 gear
All steel street duster.

I would also say there was more to be had out of my standard eddies. So if I were to do it again I would probably just fully port the standard heads if you already have them.
