The same sun will rise today, that has been in the sky forever, but it will never quite look the same as it did before. The profound sorrow you now feel will diminish but it will never go away. May you eventually find peace with this, Fred, and are able to keep all the great times you had with Nick in a place where they can easily be retrieved and relived.
