I had my car at the chasis dyno again checking to see if I fixed a valve train problem (weak springs). After the session I discovered that It improved, but did not cure the problem. I beleive that my hydraulic flat tappet cam is the reason for the power drop off after 5500 rpm. It got better after new springs, but not where I would like the motor to be. My question is what do you think I could possibly stand to gain by going with a solid flat tappet cam and what would you recomend for specs. Here is the info on my current set up. Sroked 340 (418 ci), ported Edelbrock heads. Diamond piston 10.9 to 1 comp. RPM Air Gap (first dyno session) or Super Victor intake (second dyno session) both port matched. Pro systems 837 cfm carb. Current Comp Cam Specs, lift:intake.534 exhaust .520,duration@.050:intake 242 exhaust 250, istalled @ 108, lobe center 112. I will attach my dyno sheets. All advise is appreciated.

Cab may not like the wide LSA but it does give you a broader power band... a solid will help and get more rpm out of the engine... as a guess I would think maybe 35-40 hp... JMO

I remember your last post. However, I don't have anything new to add. It still does not seem right. For what you have, the amount of power drop off at that rpm seems dramatic. If anything, the wider LSA would help the power hang on longer. On run 7 the engine hits the wall at 5400 rpm. On run 8, it hits the wall at 5600 rpm. What was different between the runs? (edit - My bad, I see that the latest dyno session pull good to 5700)
Certainly, going to a solid will take out one variable, but without knowing the problem, if there is one, the outcome would only be a guess. Generally speaking, you could make more power with a solid FT.
From a peak power stand point, the numbers don't seem bad.

Also for a high percentage of your runs you are FAT looking at the A/F ratio so there is more power in that alone

10.9:1 and 242º sounds like trouble on ethanol laden whiz. I'd go solid with more duration, depending on the fuel and type of racing. I'd also tighten up the lobe separation to 108º and install it 104º - 106º
