I really haven't posted much about my fairly new project, but here she is:

Ralley Green A12 4 speed car:

I got the car stripped down and had it transported to the media blasters today. It will then be moved to the body shop for the first stage of body work and paint.

Going to be using a ultra fine glass bead media....and the rear quarters and roof are not going to be blasted. I don't want to take a chance at warping the thinner sheet metal sections of the car.

P.S. The rear quarter glass IS coming out before blasting!

Thanks, yeah, the paint is a a 50 footer. The car is going through a full resto. The engine bay was painted black and the interior and trunk were sprayed with some sort of red-ish primer. Also the paint job is not original, so you never know what's hiding beneath.

My body guy will also appreciate the greatly reduced amount of sanding in tough areas such as the engine bay and door jams etc.

Are you keep ing it a as raced resto or back to original? I wish my car was still as raced, but I have to go back to original, or then again as raced?

Just my but I would go day 2 old drag car look. enough original looking cars out there. That would get my attention just like it is only restored.

Any race history or old pictures?

More details please.

Why? I've blasted plenty of hinges & I haven't had any problems with it??

Do you rebuild them to get the grit out of them? What about the metal behind the hinges that won't get blasted?

As far as the metal behind them that won't get blasted, this is California, there won't be any rust, it's still sealed & will remain that way...

As far as rebuilding the hinges, if they are loose I rebuild them, if not I blow them out throughly while operating them through their range of motion.. I've had no problems with them....

The rear windows are coming out as well as the door hinges. I will also be rebuilding the hinges too. You could go either way with the hinges, but I like the idea of having the entire door jam painted without anything there.

Cool picture!

Yeah, this one is going back to stock. It was a race-car its entire life...it has very low mileage. I'm still collecting info on its race history. The paper work that came with the car said that Ronnie Sox test drove the car at Chrysler's Chelsea Proving Grounds....hard to document though. I have no reason not to beleive it though, as I found this alleged info out well after buying the car.

The car spent most of it says racing in the Mid-West. It was bought in Ohio and raced at the Indianapolis Drag Strip most of its life.

The seller didn't really provide me with tons of info, and he's not the kinda guy to talk your ear off either (rare among car guys). The seller had the car for about 25 years.

Lots of research work to do, and as you can see, even more wrenching!

As far as I know it wasn't a notable car in racing history etc. I believe at this point it was simply someone's car they bought to race. I'm attempting to find more info on it, I'm sure someone out there knows more.

Dan, it looks like the Road Runner has a great home. I'm glad you are doing the work that it deserves. You're right, the paint is a 10 footer, it's not the correct Rallye Green anyway.
I spent hours searching for some kind of history on the car while trying to buy it myself. Never found any vintage photos or even mention of the original owner. You just have to assume what he said is correct but no documentation to back it up.

Thanks Dave, I appreciate the kind words. I really want to do a nice job on this car. I'm going to call Darrell Alderman (former NHRA guy) to see if he remembers the car as that note suggested.

I should have more pictures up by Tuesday.

Great looking car man! So what are the specs on this car... engine, trans, color, etc. How cool would it be if you found out the car actually did have some sort of history!

Personally, I enjoys seeing a unique car... for example... the newly restored EPA Superbird. I'm glad the car wasn't restored back to it's original condition. Instead, it was brought back to the way it once was when it was used by the EPA... with all the computers and other gadgets.

If you found out the car had some history, which way would you go with it? Either way, it's still a cool car and will probably be pretty nice when finished.
