cosidering a 2010 srt -8 looks nice but have not really followed these cars since started in 2008,
on a 2010 model does anyone have any negatives they have found on these cars, Drive traits, breakdowns etc, etc, I am looking at a 6 speed.

Hi,

I bought a 2010 RT Classic this past year. I only have 4,000 km on it but it is a great driver. Compared to a classic, this is really a lot of fun to drive. It has decent acceleration, comfort, all the toys and it even corners well. What’s not to like. All this and 25 mpg (Canadian). On one road trip, it was getting 29 miles per gallon. There are a number of guys around that have bought and all are very happy with them.

The only comment I will make is one of the parts guys at the dealership mentioned the SRT 8 rides a little harsher compared to the RT. You may want to check that out.

you might check challengerforums.do you really want to give price diff from an rt.my 2010 rt runs plenty good enough to keep a lawyer on retainer.seems checking to see where comp. cuts off at [140]is a big problem.

I've got a '10 SRT8 6 speed. I love it. It, like all of them, has a wheel hop problem under hard acceleration. Other than that, I've got nothing to complain about. I got 20mpg on a trip to Williamsburg in after-Thanksgiving traffic.

i've got an 09 R/T and love it! The SRTs are setup more for the twisties, but the R/Ts will hang close with them in the 1/4 mile. the new 5.7s are great!

I prefer the 5.7l with MDS because it will get 25-26 MPG on the highway, and the VCT helps torque. The best I could ever get with a 6.1 auto was 22. The other thing I don't like about the 6.1 is the perceived lack of torque. The 6.1 pulls harder at 80 than at 40....so it's in the programming. Easy fix with a programmer but stock it just feels weak.
I would hold on a few months and wait for the 6.4, it's reported to have 470 hp & 470 lb/ft....stock!!

Good luck

Do the 2010 6 speed Challengers even have MDS?

I am not sure about the 12.29 but if you do a moparts search there is a post where it ran 12.44 and there is another post where the car chasis dynoed at 440hp to the wheels corrected numbers the srt=8 is a beast.

with the 2011 challenger coming out you have 2 ways to go.

1. wait for the dealers not to mark up the new srt-8

2. get a deal on the 2010 srt-8 since the new one is rolling out.

No MDS,SRV or VCT on any 6.1L. All three on the 6.4L
Peak Torque was at 4800 on the 6.1L
Peak Torque is at 4000 on the 6.4L
