I think any intake can help from port matching. We put indentation line-up dimples on each 4 intake port groupings to exactly position the intake relative to the heads when you torque it down. Carb matching helps to. Troy has done this with his BB M-1 and at minimum helped idle quality... So we did it with my SB M-1. After Before

i matched the top of mine to the carb like already shown here. i found when i mocked up my demon 750 on the carb the butterflies would touch the casting. also gasket matched the ports. dunno how mch it helped. but im sure there was a small improvement.

What did you use to modify the plenum? Have you checked if it's alcohol resistant? I had Moroso's 2-part epoxy come "unglued" from my intake after being exposed to 10% ethanol-blended pump gas.
Moroso 2-part epoxy.
Did you have the epoxy up top like this, or in the plenum for dams and such.
I've seen expoxied intakes before.

I used it to add some material to all four of the outer walls of an RB M1 intake because they're cast too wide to align properly w/ a standard runner size.
I did the "textbook" prep and added plenty of "footholds" for the patches to grab on to. No problem w/ about 50 dyno pulls on straight gasoline, but I pulled the intake to check for a gasket leak after a year on the street running the 90/10 gas/ethanol blend and found that three of the four repairs had come off completely. The remaining one had softened up due to the ethanol and could be folded back by hand before it finally broke off.
Gas-ahol + Epoxy = Bad JuJu... You've been warned!
