How hard is it to change out? Have a 727 out of a 69 D200 but does not have the ears for the floor shifter bracket thats in my 72B.
Many thanks

If the trans is out turn it upside down & take out the bolts of course then w a large phillips screwdriver take out the 2 screws and the plate then spread the snap ring w your largest "expanding" snap ring pliers (& hold it spread) as you pull the housing rearward.

Its easy to change out, you can do it in the car. After you unbolt it from the main case the hardest part is spreading the bearing retainer clip which is under a 1/2'2" metal tab with usually two phillips head screws. The two small square tangs that stick down have to be spread in order to get it off the bearing, then the stock just slips off the back. You can cut a small strip of metal or wood to hold them apart, and that will help hold it apart for re-assembly as well. That is if you don't have the flat nose spreader pliers that is actually used for spreading. Good luck!

You need to remove the speedo cable housing as well(1 bolt). Pay attention to which way it is clocked. It can be rotated in 4 different positions.

Use a lot of penetrating oil on the giant Phillips screws, they are easy to break...

Place the shift lever in Park (full back) and turn the output shaft until you hear it click into Park; makes the housing easier to remove/install.
