comp makes 1 but it will move on the snout so only turn in 1 direction or do what I did and use the flexplate bolts to turn the engine so I could turn it either way without moving the holder for the degree wheel.

I just bought one the other day,big improvement over pinching it in between washers and fighting with getting it aligned!

Why worry about moving the wheel... I just move the
pointer(just bend it back and forth)... yeah it needs
to be within 10* or so of 0

I drilled and tapped a #10x32 fine thread hole about half way down the keyway slot so the edge of a hard allen head screw just extended into the slot so when it's tightened down after you slide the socket on the crank there is no socket wiggle at all. Works great. No degree wheel movement at all.

There is a better way - IMO. I took my wheel and cut the center out of it. I then made an adapter out of 1/4" thick aluminum with a step in it the thickness of the wheel ( around 1/16" ). Drilled and taped the edges ( 6-32 ) in 3 spots for set screws. Also made 3 adaptors ( above wheel )to take 3 different sizes of dampener bolts to handle any engine I may be working on. With the proper adaptor, I use the dampener bolt ( may have to washer up some ) and bolt the center section up solid to the crank snout. I can then rotate my wheel as needed and lock it down with the 3 set screws. Done! I can rotate the engine in ether direction with no slop. I love dis country!

That's a great way to do it. I don't have a way to machine the wheel or the center, I doubt a hole saw would do the job. Great idea, thanks for sharing .

Thanks. Another bennie is if you need to make cam timing changes, just remove the three set screws & outer ring, and you have full access to the cam gear.
