If he can make a differential bearing tool adjuster, that hooks up to a torque wrench, cheaper than what Randy's R&P advertises thiers for (as low as $72) I'd be interested.
The tool shown is cool but the biggest hassle is having to install & remove the rear pinion bearing w/o ruining it. I modified a "spare" bearing to slip on and at that point you can trial & error fit shims as much as anyone would want.
A pinion depth tool that reads from the rear bearing race up to the diff. bearing journals could give a reading that might determine the right shim before ANY rear bearing installation was down is what we need.

Every gear maker specifies that the contact pattern should be the final determination regardless of whether or not the pinion depth is what is etched on the pinion.
Any depth setter only saves one operation at the most.
