Getting ready to put the NOS 3 pc kickdown linkage on my 71 v code cuda and noticed that most sorces are showing the single rod type for 1971 up and AAR. Anyone know how correct the long single rod is for a late build 71. Some are saying 3pc for my car and c-bodys got the single . Any pix of orig cars correct resto or info please. Thanx jay

Definitely single rod going from the bellcrank at the back of the intake to the tranny.

Johnny over at 71superbee.com will definitely have some information if you can't get the pictures here.

The above link you'll see the carb rod configuration at the bottom in the collection of engine pictures.

YearOne sells it too.. A bit pricey for the complete kit. The carb rod and bellcrank could probably be used from a 4bbl car along with the kickdown tranny lever down at the bottom. The unique piece is the actual rod. A 4bbl version will hit the firewall. I have had a 6bbl setup on my former '71 Charger R/T and know first hand a 4bbl rod won't work.

Hope this helps...

Now that I think about it, I have a 6bbl single rod up in the attic. I"ll take a picture later on today if you don't get one via a reply

Well it looks like the 440-6 rod is 25.75 long... I'd guess the 440-4 is about 24" long... Measure what you have & go from there...

The position in space of the 6bbl bellcrank is further back if I recall than the 4bbl. Hence, the throw/movement/travel of the 4 bbl rod at full-open throttle will cause the rod to hit the firewall.
