Looking for something under .030 head gaskets for my 416 4.070 bore build that will only be 10.2 to 1 or so compression.

Most sites list the P4120094 .028 compressed gaskets at 4.06 bore, which will not work for me. But some list that as 4.125 bore which I think is incorrect. ??

What about these Detroit gaskets I see on E-bay. They seem reasonable except for the ridiculous $20 shipping charge...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...id=380234632604

Is there another source for these Detroit 4.125 bore gaskets? This is the only place I've seen these gaskets. Could this seller misrepresenting a set of P4120094 gaskets??

Cometic has them from .016 and up I believe.

Is the MP 4120094 actually a 4.125 bore instead of the 4.060 bore in the MP catalog?

70aarcuda measured a set he had at near 4.125. But I don't know how old they were.

Wonder if the current MP 4120094 is actually 4.125 and mis-labeled in the MP catalog?

The .028 compressed would be fine for me. And they are like $35-$40/pair.

Where they the MP 4120094 gaskets? Are they the same gaskets?

Can this be the only guy selling these? Something doesn't sound right.

I have those gaskets in stock and just went and pulled a set. Although they are still in the plastic, they measure 4.150, closer to 4.160 ish. Non compressed about .034, so I am sure they will compress to about .028-.030.

I cannot say for sure that they are Detroit gaskets, as I didnt even think they were still in business. I believe they are repackaged ROLS from Mexico. I will do some research to get the correct information on their origin.

So, CompetitionWedge and others, the P4120094 has an incorrect 4.060 bore description in the MP catalog??

Most all MP parts houses have that 4.060 bore in thier discriptions too.

Can someone contact Zippy about this at MP?

Getting the correct info out there could open up these parts to more potential customers. Like all the street/strip 340 and 416 stroker guys.

That "not red" deal is what is throwing me. Troy from Westoaks MP has never seen a white one. But he hasn't done MP in about 1-2 years.

So a MP 4120094 will fit my 4.070 bore and be about .028 compressed. yes/no?

These will clearly fit your 4.070 bore without any concern other than the bore size being a bit larger than you need. Its only about .040 per side however. Just drops compression a bit with that bore size, but makes it back up with the thinner gasket.

The " old red" gaskets were in fact Detroit gasket, not been available for years other than left over stock.

Like I said, I am 99% sure these are a copy of the Corteco gaskets, which were also tied in with ROL gasket company and I believe made now in Mexico. They arent a bad gasket.

I bought some of the thin white MP style gaskets from Summit just last month. Mr Gasket still makes the thin ones, .026" compressed, IIRC. They are the sticky coated-graphite ones that used to be orange back a few years. Have run them on 318s-340s, .060"over with zero problems. Over 11.5:1 I would run a MLS (Cometic-type) or a TITAN ICS gasket I think...RB
