my question is
what parts were interchangable and could be used between both years?
what parts were specific to each year?
where i'm going with this is
i have a fairly complete orig 70 set up
and i have a 71 flat hood
what parts can i use on the 71 that i already have?

You can use the air grabber box with some slight mods for mounting to hood. Also the flap door and vacuum actuator are the same. The hood door will work on 71-72 Dodge but not on Plymouth. Switch, solenoid and vacuum can are different.

I am fairly certain the 71-72 vacuum can has a different mounting bracket...someone else will have to confirm.

I agree that the vacuum can is different, 70 is one yeart only. Just sell the 70 stuff you have and buy the 71 specific parts. It may be hard to find the 71 parts, but it will be worth the wait to do it correctly.

On a 1971 b body there's a canister with a bracket that goes underneath the battery tray for the air conditioning. That bracket is the one you're talking about. A 71 air grabber canister and bracket is the same as a 1970 .

The 70 b body also has an a/c vacuum can under the battery tray. That has nothing to do with the air grabber can on any of these cars. You are however right according to the 70-71 parts catalog. They share the same part # 3420851.

I'm not here to argue with you. I am here just trying to help. When I bought my 71 satellite 318 air conditioned parts car I looked under the battery tray and said "why is there an air grabber canister." But the bracket was different. I said to myself "Cool mine had a dent in it" So I took it off and switched it over. My question is what does the canister look like on a 70 air conditioned car? What is the part number on a 70 air grabber, the duct underneath?
