Guys, Sory to keep harping on tires, but I've been sorta shocked at how little life most of you get out of a pair of ET Radials. So I'll be keeping a set of street tires for regualar street duty and just throwing on the strip tires for race use only, and the drive there and back.

For strip only use, which would you prefer on a high 11 second (my goal) car?

255/60-15 ET Radials
or
27x10x15 ET Streets

I know I might be able to fit slightly bigger tires in the wells of my 67 B-body, but I'm convinced it will hook with these, and I don't want to kill the gearing, as it has 3.91's in it and last year with a 28" slick, it was striping at only about 5600 (shifting at 6500).

Lastly, should I be concerned at all about mixing bias rears with radial fronts? I did it last year with ET Drags. No real issues, but we are over 110 mph, here.

As always, thanks for your helpful thoughts, and have a Merry Christmas!!!

No question the Radial is a better tire for you.
You will ET better with the radial, the car will drive way better with the radial
11 even 10 sec car should have no issues with track conditions, as long as you know how to tune shocks for track conditions the radial is a way better tire

....BAD A$$ STREET CAR.....

I run a 30x13.5 MT ET Street tire on my duster runs 11.70s-12.00s depending on the air. So far I have 195 runs on them and they still have some life left in them. I also run tubes.

I've run both the ET Streets and the ET Radials on my 11.70 street car. The Radials handle much better on the street, and are a little faster (0.02 in the 60 ft), but the Streets are much more forgiving of a bad track. Whereas the radials tend to spin on a crappy track. The Streets will last a little longer too.

I started with the Streets, then moved to the Radials due to the terrible street manners of the bias-ply Streets. I absolutely love the Radials, both on and off the track, but they aren't as consistent in the 60' as the Streets.

You can borrow my Radials for a day if you want to try them. They're currently on 15x8 wheels with 5.5" BS. They're faster, more stable, and much safer on the streets than a bias ply slick. FWIW I drove the car to work today, in the rain, into downtown Seattle and back. Just another day, I do it all the time.

Thats a great offer, Dustin. Thanks, but I don't think I need them.... It would seem the opinions are overwhelming in favor of the radials. The two tracks I'll be at are both in pretty stellar shape most all of the time. I'll be getting a pair of 255's in Jan.

Thanks for chiming in, everyone.

Radials work good on autos but if you got a stick go with the et streets. Also the more sidewall you have on the radial the better they work.

I run these 30 x 9 radial slicks on the street and strip. They are a tad faster then the bias slicks and handle way better at speed. These have been on my 63 for a year and 1/2 and still have plenty of tread. I have driven it alot and raced it 5 times on these tires. Ron

I have ran both types on my Duster on the street and at the track, 315x60x15 ET Street Radials and 13.50x30x15 ET Street The radials are faster on a good track not as good on the street if the bias plys are at low pressure. I pump the ET Streets up to 20 lbs on the street and run them at 9.5 to 11.0 lbs at the track or when it is time to hook it up I did find out the hard way to not mix the bias and radial tires together on the street Not so at the track My car wants to wonder all over the road on the streets when I mixed the bias with the radials, it didn't matter which was on the front or rear Bias with bias and radials together

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
