You will be fine if you footbrake. Check your gears every 50 runs. If you are using street gears, the ring gear will start chipping teeth off at 100-150 runs.

If you are using a trans brake, you better have pro gears.

If I had to check my gears every 50 runs I wouldn't race!!!!

I'm at 3300 lbs with 1.46 60ft times.I do have MW billet caps with lightened/polished street gears and have to be close to a 1,000 runs over the last 8 yrs. IMHO you should me fine with that set-up.

He is talking 750 HP. He will find some weak links at that power level, stock blocks, street gears, 1/2" studs, stock 727 parts, etc.

here"s a pic of both my car and my Brothers car. both with an 8 3/4, and both low nines and 1.24-1.31 60ft times. You will be just fine with a your rear. But in my honest opinion, if you havent spent the money on axles and spool etc... yet. Why spend it twice. Sell your rear and put it in a dana, and never worry again.

by the way, both the above cars have 8 3/4 rears in them, with all good parts in them, with lots of runs on them.

You might be suprised what it will cost to put a dana in your car. If you have to buy a spool and gears and axles, and set-up cost. You are already well over a grand. Just sell your rear for a couple hundred bucks and then call dr diff or moser and ad 2 or 3 hundred and get a new one already set up and ready to go.
Or, for ex, I just picked up a 4.10 dana with a posi for 250 bucks, and go from there.
I can get them for that all day around here.

sure! The green car is my Brothers car. It is a small block. Both our cars are naturally aspirated too.
His motor is for sale on race parts right now if you want to see the combo!

We both have full int, stock wheel tubs, and cars are streetable, but not driven on the road, lol. Both have 727's and 8 3/4's.
Good luck with your car, sounds like it should run good.

Just be patient, and it will come. There is always little things that you can do to pick up a little at a tim.
Our Mom and Dad bought mine and my Brother's cars for us when we were 10 yrs old. So we have had them for quite awhile, lol. Been running these cars for a LONG time. Tinker here, and tweaking there, lol.

"499", stock block, mild 440-1 heads, footbrake, 8 3/4 rear, full int, stock framerails, 8 1/2" wheel w/10" tire, no power adders, single carb, exhaust, all steel except hood and front bumper, 3200 plus lbs. 1.3 60ft, 9.3's at 145... "

You know it just isn"t FAIR.
Our 493 Indy heads,682 roller,13.5,1050 Dominator etc. at 3400 lbs. only ran low 10's at 135.Short times in the 1.40's with 14 inch slicks and a Transbrake! Put the DANA in cuz we figured it would kill the 8-3/4!
Had to put 150 shot to it to go 9.50's!
And you did it not only once but with 2 different cars!!!
Mopar to ya

Mike

JMO at that weight/mph that combo should easily be in the 9's,I would consider working the short times down some(NA)then spray the yell out of it.

Thanks for the props!
Just put good parts( ignition, fuel system, conv and trans etc...) all around your car and good things happen.
The green car(my Brothers) is an all aluminum 440" small block.

Racerx we did go 10.16 in good air on our home track and would have probably been in the 9's at a National event track like Maple Grove! But there is a HUGE difference between squeeking into the 9's and running low nines at 145 mph like he is doing!!!
Once again Mopar to Ya
You obviously know how to put a combination together to work to it's maximum potential!!!

Thanks Mike!
Where abouts in Pa are you? I'm right at the Pa/Md line, about 20 minutes from Mason Dixon. I'm sure we have probably crossed paths before and just didn't know it.
Talk to ya soon
