cool video, hate the 1st song...not a chance a FI vette could touch the 413..anyway cool.
Dude, if you weren't there how would you know? Do you know what the numbers 7.00x14 mean? How about Atlas Bucrons? Tires sizes that where stock from the factory back then, not sticky at all. The 1962 327 F.I. Corvettes could hook a lot better on the streets than the 413 Dodge and Plymouth could. I hate to admit that but it is true, especailly on the stick shift Mopars of that day back then. Once the cars had slicks on them at the tracks it was a all together different matter
Seems I read that a mag re-created that race a while back. The 413 worked the vette...

I was there and don't really care what your opinion of that situation is, I always thought you were a pretty smart guy, but now think you are about as smart as prostock and diego.

Man that brings back memories. I grew up 2 miles from Detroit drag way. This was back before they moved the Fall Nationals from Detroit to Indianapolis. School started right after Labor Day and the Nats would start the following week. We would skip school every day during the Nats and spend the day at Detroit Drag Way. This was in 60, 61, 62 and 63. None of us had any money so everyday we would crawl under the fence behind the hill. There were no stands at Detroit back then, just a pile of dirt stretching from the starting line to about the eighth mile on the spectator side. Those were the days!
I suppose you have this video of the Detroit Nationals. A little long.

Some tracks, like INDY, were state of the art. That is why the lanes at INDY are long, right behind the starting line, for the old push starts. Beech Bend, had "roller starters" buried in the ground, under the bridge. A guy sat in a pit and operated the SBC, that drove the rollers. It was cool to stand on the bridge, watch the cars fire and get a big dose of nitro fumes. Other tracks, would push to the finish line, turn the cars around, push back, fire then at the tree and turn them around again. And even after they became self starting, TF cars still did not have reversers for several years and you had a gang out there to push the car back after a burnout. That was pretty cool.

Martin 131 drag way [ Michigan] called it the wire wheel area, the dragsters were pushed out at the top end side by side pushed down toward the tower and fired ,exited of just before the tower looped around back and were at the burn out area. I do recall there weren't many that didn't fire. It did give spectators some thing else to watch.
it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

didn't have to be around to understand that a factory race car w/ 420hp (from the factory), not to mention the torque advantage could beat a 360hp (if that) HP corvette. I think there's an actual race on youtube I might look for later.

P.S. "My stingray is light, my slicks are starting to spin but the 413's really digging in...."
