I have had this coronet for a few years now just starting on it. Previous owners butchered it it, air chisled out the wheel wells and trunk floor and messed up the quarters, however is a very solid factory 4 speed car, but will be alot of work, thinking about just putting a rear clip on it, I have and excellent parts car. any input or ideas are welcome..I have a 6 speed richmond tranny with long shifter I plan on installing in it, the original dana is still in it.

personally, Id use that as a very last resort. it the rails are good in the car, Id just get AMD stuff thats readily available and fix what you got. I kind of dont like messing with the whole 'structure' of the car like that unless its nessisary. sweet looking coronet! 68 it one of my absolute favorite!

Retain as much original structure as you can. That's what I had to do when I back-halfed my '70 Hemi GTX. Managed to save underseat area and rear quarter window inner side structure behind the jambs, some of the wheel well(s). Attached new metal to that...oh yeah, and a new roof

If that rear clip is as good as it looks I would use it that way you have factory sheetmetal and not repop metal.

If you clip the car, you will loose some valuable stamped numbers and will leave some tell tale signs that the car had the rear clip replaced and that would seriously effect the value of the car.

I would spend the time and remove the 1/4s and wheel well from the back halfed one and put on the R/T. Myself, I am in the same boat you are I have a 68 4sp Bee and I just bought a nice 500 body to remove the 1/4s, wells and rear tail panel from, I dont have the money for AMD stuff and dont mind spending the time to move the sheet metal and it will take some time to take it apart right. Another vote for not hacking the back off and using the donor clip. transfer what you need, no more.
