We bought an AED850 several years ago and it has been on several of our engines as well as a few friends. It is without a doubt the best carb I have ever owned. starts and idles better than any other carb we have. I took off my Dominator and put it on my 496 to slow down a couple 10ths and the car would still run 6.30s and drive like a street car!
AED is by far one of the best carbs out there, i've met several guys useing them over the years & they love em, i'v never heard 1 complaint.

why a 950 carb over an 850?thanks mike
a 950 generally moves air easier/ more air speed/velocity than an 850, and is better suited to a smallblock. Most anybody you talk to will say a standard 950 has better street manners than a standard 850 does.
I cant say as i personally know of a single guy who runs an 850 around these parts on any smallblock i am aware of.
Lots of 750, 950 and dominators, but no 850's i am aware of.
A few years back Patrick at pro systems gave me three carbs to test on my old w5 stroker motor. A 750, a 1000hp, and a dominator. The 1000 i believe was 950 based.

I went with a Pro Systems 850 on my 408. Only run with it one time so far, but it seems to be right on the money out of the box. Their tech / info form is pretty thorough ( 2 pages I believe )and James asks the right questions.

isn't the 950 a 850/750 mix. some one on moparts posted once it flowed less
The Holley branded 950 is,but the main body is modified to fit the throttle bores. The main venturi on the QF 950 is larger than the one from Holley, not sure about other brands.
