No matter what I do every year that I take the motor out My rear main begins to leak from about the first trip to the track to the end of the season. Only seems to leak after use. A small puddle on the trailer floor,a small puddle again at home in the garage.
It's a Megablock with Callies crank.
What about the Mancini billet Aluminum rear main.Anyone have any luck with it after having such a hard time with the original one that came with their Megablock???

hey! I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME.

Its not necessarily the retainer itself, unless it wasnt manufactered properly. 9 times out of ten, its the " process" itself, not the components. You will get 3 thousand different opinions on here about this subject, but trust me, its the process of getting the retainer in the right position, using the right side seals, and lining up the seal itself properly. They can be a pain. I prefer the better rear main seals, not just the stock style, but they will work also if installed correctly.The only other problem is a rear retainer that traps the oil, but thats becoming less common.

also keep in mind, that if you have too much windage inside your engine, it will cause pressure on the seal and leak.

I've never had a leaker and I seal the retainer to the block with silicone. That includes a little Si on both sides of the side seals and the OD of the neoprene seal itself.

I do that also every time I install it. I also have an e vac system to control windade. I also switched from Synthetic oil to conventional since I heard that synthetics tend to leak more!
