Nice looking exhaust port for 1970. Headers might be a problem. You might have to cut the flanges off and weld on new ones. We'll wait for HemiFred to chime in as I'm sure S&M ran them on his Duster once upon a time.

D4

Alternate cylinder heads for the 426 race Hemi. Initially developed in 1969-1970 using the same intake valves and ports as the D1 but with larger area, higher exit and straighter exhaust ports. The first D4 head power runs on May 1, 1970, and the 426 Hemi generated 641 hp.

Has the displayed head a 1969 casting date?
The 1970 heads has (as far as I know) two extra header bolt holes as on the attached picture.

A picture of Chrysler made D4 headers (I was told). Were they really this short in Nascar or have they been cut off?

Pretty rare NASCAR pieces... Aluminum drag race versions can be had for less than a grand.

You will have to make your own headers or modify a set using D-port flanges. The flanges are available.

I got an email reply on this subject:

We ran iron D-4 heads as late as 1972 on the Missile cars Ted Spehar
