I was just wondering what kinda difference in power a person might see in a small cubic inch W2 engine from a 59 degree set-up compared to a 48 degree set-up ? I know the 48 degree would rpm better, but how much better and how much power, roughly ?

If the valves opened the exact same I dont think you could really measure it... the lifter is side loaded a more in the 59 vs the 48... I am talking the same head on both.... JMO

I'm speaking of a 59 degree head on a 59 degree block versus a 48 degree head on a 48 degree block.

Now you talking flow numbers... on my W-9 head which is a 48* it flows more than the (we will say a W-5) so your not looking at apple to apples.... if you put a W-8 on a 59 it will make enough power to bust the stock 59* block

Had a set of W2 here that would support 8500+. had valvetrain issues at lower rpm than that with 59 degree stuff. Hp would be the same up to the point where valvetrain issues arise all else equal imo. After seeing the 48 degree stuff the 59 is just ugly. To choose between the two, 48 w2 vs 59 w2, 48 will make more power at higher rpm imo..
How high you want to spin it and how long?

My W-2 on a 59* block I was turning it 8200 on each pass... gotta have a good valve train... this was a roller... I was running 9.56 with it

I know nothing about small blocks but what is the difference on the heads between the 2 different degree heads? pushrod location is the only difference i can think of

I'm speaking more along the lines of a 285ci engine. A high winding, modified type engine. I know of a 321ci W2 headed, all 48 degree engine that makes over 700 HP ! Of course no expense has been spared on it.
If they may not make anymore 48 degree heads, whats the fix for the valvetrain issues in a high winding, small cubic inch sb Mopar ? With W2 heads I mean. Also, whats the best cast intake for W2 heads ? Also, could you use 48 degree heads on a 59 degree R3 block, and if so, to what advantage ?

The 48s are 15 degree valve angle.

At the RPMs you'll need to be at to make big power with 285" engine, the 48º lifter angle will have a definite advantage.
Kent Ritter has/had my last set of 48º/15º 47cc W-2 heads. (P5007708AB)
