Hey guys,
I have a great shape 91 roller longblock 360 that I am planning on building NA to get me a high 11 in the quarter and street driving the heck out of (put 4000 miles on the car this year alone)
However, i have always in the past wanted to go the boost option...I do have some basic understandings of it, and i have looked into kits from companies (minus prices) whether they be supercharger or turbocharger. I do have access to a welder and i have fab skills though.
If i was to go forced induction, what could i reuse, what do i have to upgrade, and how reliable would it be? Im only looking to make 450-500 streetable horsepower, on pump gas to boot. Was thinking of a rering and reseal on the block, stock cast pistons down in the hole, mildly ported 308 factory castings, and a reground roller cam.
Im not biased to supercharger or turbocharger, as imo they are both great ways of making power. How much would I be looking at spending? my whole budget for the motor NA was going to be 4k tops ( I already have headers, carb, intake, dizzy, ignition, etc.) so im thinking other than the basic refresh cost on the block, i have the rest of the money to spend on a fuel system and on the turbo/supercharger setup itself..What do you guys recommend to reach my power goal? is it doable with my budget, or am i dreaming?
I realize this is a broad question with lots of possibilities, but id like to know if im way off base here so i can decide 100% what direction i want this build to go in
Any advice, comments or criticisms, im all ears! lol
