YES and the tranny yoke broke taking out my sprag, driveshaft and breaking teeth of my dana 60.
It is cheaper now to replace front and rear with 1350 u joints.

My car is over 3200 pounds, 9.20's ET, and 1.2x sixty foot times. I have 7290 U-joints in it. No transbrake, just footbrake.

I'm in at 2800#'s and doing just fine on solid 7290 joints.

Don't get hollow/greasable joints and install them correctly and you should be OK.

Our other cars have 1350 sets. This o'l chassis car was set up with the 7290. I think I'll run it for a while. I can't be nearly as hard on equipment as 440 Jim and Mr P Body

The Spicers are still forged and affordable, under $20. I think a quality forged 7290 would be as strong as a cast 1350.

I bring this up because you didn't say anything about which brand of joint you were considering.

Master, again and still

3650 lbs, 1.45 60ft, mid to high tens, transbrake and running 7290 joints - no issues. Make sure you use high quality forged units. I believe the only real difference between 7290s & 1350s is the cup width.

Spicer are the best. But get the solid ones.
A billet rear end yoke helps a lot too. OEM units can eventually spread and let the u-joint pound out.
