I presently have the engine out of my car, but the 727 is still in the car. Is it bad to keep the torque converter on the transmission for an extended period of time? To me the advantage of not removing it is that when I refire the engine after reassembly I can direct my attention to the engine instead of worrying about getting trans fluid back in. However, was unsure if the weight of the converter on the input shaft was bad.....could it just be tied up to a bellhousing bolt hole using wire or is this just asking for trouble?

I like to remove it. The weight hanging in the seal and bushing is not (imo) a good thing.

pull it

good idea to swap in a new seal when it goes back together..cheap insurance

when I goes back in,make sure it engages the 2 steps to slide it all the way back

did you mark the flex plate before removal?

makes it a one step hook up if you did

you can tie the tranz up with wire if you need to move it

Thanks guys. I'll drain and pull it.

I did mark the flywheel.....

and will change the seal while it is accessible. Is this just called the front seal?
