Just picked up a complete stock 1975 440 from fan blade to the driveshaft for my buddys 1967 Coronet 2dr Hdtp. His goal is 450 flywheel HP with stock HP exhaust manifolds and Eddie RPM intake. Stock iron heads and stock crank. Manual brake car so vaccum is not a concern. What do we need to do?

I'd be very interested in seeing the combo suggestions as well.

1969 Dodge Super Bee A12 (440 Six Pack, 4-speed, Dana 60 4.10)

1972 Plymouth Road Runner (400, 4-speed, 8.75" 3.23)

1974 Plymouth Duster 360 (360, 4-speed, 8.75" 3.23)

Scott you should be able to do it with big valves in the heads.Have Nick put big valves and bronze guides in and he will open up the bowl area to take advantage of the bigger valves. He can also sell you a Comp Cam that will match your heads.I would recommend a EXHL hydraulic grind and about 10.5-1 compression.

Dual pattern, modern grind cam that favors the exhaust to help the stock manifolds get the job done. 3 angle valve job and match the ports.
2.5 inch exhaust
750 VS Holley, DP if 4-speed.
Get the compression up....9.5 to 10 max. Quality of fuel may be a problem--if you can build in some quench it would be a plus.

Yeah it needs to run on pump gas too. Whats a flat top piston at zero deck with stock iron heads end up with for compression? Yeah I was figuring a modern dual pattern fast lift flat tappet hydraulic cam. So 2.14/1.81's with a bowl cut blended in and port match should breath enough? This 450 HP deal would be a piece a cake with some Doug Headers, single plane high rise intake and a 850 Holley DP. This "stock" outward appearance stuff leaves me wondering if its possible. I mean we're leaving a bunch a easy HP on the table corking it up with that dual plane intake and iron exh. manifolds.

It will be hooked to a 727 and 3.23 geared 8 3/4" rear too. I was kinda figuring a converter in the 2800 rpm range ought to do the trick.

all the above ideas are great, easy way to get that goal bullit proof the valve train with ductile iron or crane gold adjustable rockers/ball cup moly pushrods, good springs,10 degree retainers, harden keepers, oil pan system like 1970 440 six pack pan tray. to make sure the 440 can spin 6,500 rpm and make stable power. with 10-1 comp should make closer to 500hp

You can make 450. Get a cam from Bob K or Dwyane, and put the 850 DP on it. Good exhaust and heads and put as much CR in as you can tolerate. Flat top and 906s probably around 9.5:1, making some asumptions (7cc valve relief, 88 cc head, zero deck, .040" gasket)

This is close to the combo we ran in our 64 Plymouth; 10:1 pistons, 509 cam (there are better ones), HD stamped rockers, template ported 452 heads, RPM intake, 850 DP carb. Car ran 11.70's through the mufflers at 3250 w/o driver.

don't try and run a 509 w/ a 2800 stall and 3.23's. with the 3.23's and 2800 stall I'd call and have a custom cam made up.

Yeah I got 484 Purple in mine with a 2800 stall and 3.91 gears and its perfect. Probably better dropp down to a 2200-2400 stall with those 3.23's I bet. Dummy me.

Scott I have a dual plane on my car and it runs plenty fast.I really don't think you will leaving anything on the table with a Performer RPM with your cam and compression choices
My engine seems to still pull at 6500 in high gear

Assuming pump gas. Get quench so you can run more CR/good dist curve on the exact same octane. Squeeze (CR) is one of the most important parameter of an eng's power potential.
