Can anyone tell me if a Superwinch model UT3000 will be powerful enough to pull my Duster on my open trailer. The car weighs 3300 pounds with out me in it. According to their we site it should do the job. I'd like some input from some of you racers before I make a final decision.

Thanks,

Raul

I believe winch ratings are based on how much weight they can drag. Since your car (hopefully) rolls on wheels, the winch will never "see" 3300 lbs.

I have one and it pulls my challenger up fine but it's a pain in the rear to keep the cable from messing up. already replaced it twice

Everyone I've seen the rating is a vertical lift...
I've pulled a 4000# jeep on my open trailer with my
1500# rated cheapo winch

For what its worth, I would get one bigger than what you need. You never know what may happen to the car or what you may put on the trailer. Better to spend a few dollars more now than after you have burnt up the "maybe it will work". Ask me how I know.....

I bought an 8000# one from Tractor Supply. I have pulled everything from ford diesel pickups to station wagons with flat tires. Works great.

Tractor supply has a coupon they sent out for this week giving you 10,15 or 25% off...

Just buy a pulley so you can double the pulling power...
if you have enough cable it works great... if not
enough cable just have another length coiled up for
stand by use... to me its a waste of money to buy
the big dollar winch when you MIGHT use it once a year
and the pulley works if needed
