I have a 73 newport c-body set of axles in my 72 4X4 8 3/4 housing to get the 5 on 4.5 wbp

same size housing and axles truck/later c-body

spring perches are diff on them though

I also have a 67 polara 8 3/4 that has 30 axles and 56' housing/46" spring perch centers..its a c-body also I am told

if you look in the archives..FYI one of the charts has wrong measurments

As scratchy said, check the archives, but, if I remember correctly, the assembly is 1-1/2" to 2" wider than a standard B-body rear. The only '71 up B-bodies that a C-body axle will fit without being too wide are station wagons. I have a '71 C-body 8 3/4 in my wagon, same width as the stocker.

We used a C body housing for a 69B body becouse it was longer and gave a little extra to work with when narrowing to fit tires and relocated springs. Really do not think it will be a bolt up and any wheels with a small amount of back spacing will work too well. It was a lot of work but am glad I did it and love the look. Everything 30 plus years old needed to be updated anyway so new springs, perches, u bolts were a given so get what you want.

I think a 70-71 Chrysler housing is the same as a 71-72 B body
I think I pulled one from a 71 Newport and came up with the exact measurements as a 71 B body

Not unless it was a wagon.

The above-mentioned inaccuracy in the Tech Chart sent me looking for a 71-74 B-body rear to put in my 68 Fury. The Tech shows the B rear to be about 3/4" narrower than the C (and with similar perches), so I figured it was perfect for some slightly fatter tires.

When I finally found what was reportedly a 71-74 B-rear, it was immediately noticeable that it was wider than the C-rear. At least 2" per side??? Didn't even have to measure it nor compare it to a C-body rear.

It was not a wagon and I bought this housing to cut down to A body specs, I measured the housing and perches and I recently had the rear out of my roadrunner and compared measurements which were identical.
