Referred to as Suede Finish. Jewel Black was the '69 name (misplaced my '68 book, but same color). DuPont #4428L was the code, which may have to be cross-referenced to a current code.
Has about a 600-grit finish, using flattener and experimenting with spraying it on "dry" - hold the gun further away than normal, lower pressure than normal.
Defroster grilles, radio plate & steering column cover weren't painted (molded in color), but steering column & ashtray were same as the dash.
To do the dash correctly, it or the windshield should be out of the car. I always pull the dash out. Which of course means removing the windshield and replacing the seal.
