tires and gears

need new tires for season and maybe change the gear. what do most of you run right now. presently 4.56 with 31 tall tire to go with the 540 with 4500 converter or should I leave it alone and not change for 8th mile track?

I run my car at both 1/8 and 1/4 mile tracks and don't change anything including the tune up, 6:80 in the 1/8 and 10:40 in the 1/4 My car is a street and strip car, not a dedicated race car I have tried three different rear gear ratio in the car with no other changes, 3:73, 3:91 and 4.10 with the same size tires, 30 inch tall radials. car didn't vary .10 ET in the 1/4and .25 MPH between all three ratios My motor is a 4.300 stroke 400 block that is 518 C.I., low compression on pump gas motor only

An option, find the correct gearset that works with both tall and short slicks, we used to run the smaller dia in the 1/8 the larger in the 1/4..but that was a long time ago.

Hi,Jnkgal! I would go with 30"-31" tire again, and keep the 4:56 gear...if you're revving 10% over your peak power rpm in the 1/4 mile! BTW...NICE SELF PORTRAIT! Looks like you're making a wise choice in professions, also! My wife's been an RN for 20 yrs...VERY GOOD job security! Good Luck with your schooling! Remember this fine work of art you did for me a while back??? Really appreciate it!

Just replace the tires UNLESS your over reving it on
the big end... what rpm do you cross the line at...
if its in the ball park save your money... I dont change
anything between racing 1/4 or 1/8... its bracket racing

yep still here. I cant stay on here much since I got into the program which I hope to graduate in may. Between studying and playing with cars etc I dont have much free time

we are preparing to race this next season. We hope to take two so we can race each other.

Last year the Satellite crossed the line 7.38 6300RPM with a 440 and same set up. Was thinking with the 540 and more torque may need less gear or smaller tire

Im posting a video I have to laugh it was the first video I ever took with this new camera sooo... I got a lot of ground lol I was looking around too much & learning how to adjust this camera at the same time so the video suffered.. I am good with video now this video was taken 2008
the camaro that was beat was a car my freind " the camaro guy" sold to this guy.

Mopar Burnout 2008

Things got enough torque to pull fire hydrants outta the ground. I would think 4.10-4.30 as is in the vid. And roll through the water before burnout..slings water up only to fall back on the tires. Driving around the water is a good idea too.
