My new eng I am building is well underway with the block still at the machine shop and all the shortblock pieces sitting in my living room. After talking with Dwayne (Da Man) I have decided to go with the Indy EZ heads since they have more potential then the Eddy RPM. Dwayne is giving me a great deal and even though I like to do my own head work I would rather let the "best" do these heads for me. Dwayne will also spec the cam as again the best will be doing it. It will be a pump gas 493 and I hope it puts my 63 solidly into the 10's. I still want to drive to the track and run 10's and then drive home. Besides I dont own a car trailer. Ron

Awesome! I'm excited to watch the progress of your build. I'm building a 505 with Indy EZ-1 Little EZ's, by my man Nick at Compuflow for my 69 Charger. I'm also building my own motor, my first BB. Can't wait to compare the results with you. Your car is very awesome! Please keep us posted with your progress. You car runs very well as it is, can't imagine what it will do with the new bullet!

Hi ron just want to say you can go wrong with dewayne. he also set me up with a set of indy ez heads and a comp solid roller. so far with no tuning my pump gas 440 in my 73 dart street/striphas run 10.68 at 125 and my car should weigh around 3400-3500 pounds with me in it. so i see no reasion your car wont run 10 or better. best of luck on your new engine. Ron, share the combo if you can, is the cam gonna be a secret? IIRC the Indys should flow something like 10-15% better than worked Eddys, right? Will your gear/tire combo be happy with that, or will the HP/TQ curve move up a bunch in RPM?

This will be a fun build to watch. 10's with a stroker and DA MAN behind you should be child's play.

That car is soooooo cool going streetable mid 11's...can't imagine how COOL it's going to be in the streetable 10's!!

Best of luck, Ron!

That sounds like a solid plan Ron

It won't be long before a matching MW intake is sitting on top of that stroker blasting you deep into the 10's

PRH = Top shelf results

I'll echo Ron's comments on both accounts....

Good news that you have Dwayne in your corner. he will set you up right.

And on the other point, build a MW type deal for that '63.

Question...why the Indy EZ? Why not go with the SR seeing it will work great in a B-body. I have seen the SR's make some big numbers with minor work. The EZ is a good head, I had a set, but I like the SR better and the price is the same...

EZ's will work with Ron's existing header set up, which to me is their big advantage (IF YOU ALREADY HAVE HEADERS)...Otherwise I too would go with the SR's, they'll make more power (that stock exhaust is costing Something in terms of peak potential), The SR is my favorite of all the Indy heads.

Ron What gear will you be running? 4.10-4.30? Is your car a Dana? Hope so!

I have a good deal on headers as Wize said and it seemed easier to go with the EZ'z because of that. And I feel it should make plenty of power with the EZ's for what I want. Right now I run 4.30's with a 30" tire and it cruises about 60 mph around 3300 rpm. And since I was going to use CNC'd Eddy RPM's I think it will make more power with the EZ heads for what I need. Thanks , Ron

I forgot but yes it is an 8-3/4 rear in the car now. I only race a few times a year but I figure I will use this setup to see how the 4.30 gear works and then soon I will go with a Dana. Hopefully the 8-3/4 will hold up for a few track passes. Ron

Ron if i was you i would start building a dana 60 now. my 8-3/4 with my dewayne porter indy EZ head 440 on pump gas only lasted 4.5 passes.i was only running 4.10 gears and some m/t 275-60-15 et street radiles. i know youe engine is going to make lots more torque than mine. i look forward to your new engine build and i love your car. i am wanting to get back into a early b-body bad.thanks bobby

Ron,

Good to hear your new build is coming along!!

You goin MW size ports?

Sounds like your new combo and my new combo should be a good heads up race!!

You will have a little more head (Gonna use my Porter ported BS heads), but I'll have a few more cubes, 512.

Same gear and close on the Vert.

You goin with a flat tappet? Im still on the fence. I have all of the stuff to go roller, but dont want to put down 1200 for set of flippin rockers. Probably will go flat....

What compression you gonna end up with?

72 RR, Pump gas 440, 452s, 3800 lbs, Corked, ET Radials,. 11.33@117.72. Same car, bone stock 346s, 9.5 comp, baby solid. 12.24@110.
