Is it possible to join the summit or Jegs pro-shop and take advantage of their discounts while building a race car? Or must the parts be used for a currently 'race-able' car?

Is an NHRA comp. license a requirement for 9.99 or quicker?

A NHRA permanent car number will work too. You don't need a license if you have the car number.

I have both summit and jegs racers discount. Jegs discount usually comes out to be more than summit and i had to fax them a copy of my nhra license with member number. Ihra will work to, (thats what i had when i got my summit account). if your faster than 10.0 you will need a license to run nhra. Mike

Thanks guys. I'll have to give them a call. I'm building the car to run mid 10's. It doesn't have a permanent number yet and I don't have a comp. license. I wonder if they will allow me to join. I guess there is only one way to find out...

A quick $25 to NHRA will solve the issue. I'd think the savings over the course of the build will more than offset the $25 for an NHRA number.

UPDATE, just called SUMMIT and it's only for 9.99 and faster, or a class with a Comp license. Being that the majority of racers out there are in 10-11 second cars, it's really BS. A discount program that's not available for the guys who could really use it...

Something must have changed. I have a buddy who gets the discount with his NHRA number, no license. He was a qualifier for the Bracket Nats, maybe that has something to do with it?

I got it from summit just by calling and talking to the guys who run it. I emailed them some pics of my car that I was doing and he approved it without a problem. Just tell them low nines and send them some pics.

You just need a NHRA #. My buddy has one, and I've ordered parts through him. No license is needed, just the number. Some things you can save big on, some 2 cents LOL. Had him check on the price for some rims... $50 off each wheel.

Last time I bought something at Jeg's (gloves to be legal in the nines) the guy ask for my license #. I told him a didn't have a competition license yet. He just looked at me funny and said ok. You need to get one so you can save some money, then he explained the program to me. Beep

I don't know about Jegs but Summit is getting very strict on use. Only the person w/ the proshop acct can use it.

I even have to show ID when I go the store in person.
